Alexander McQueen Tribute Video

I found this video around the time of the Late designer's funeral. I love it and had to share.
It's like visiting the theater and truely is art. What I wouldn't have given to get to view one of his shows.
Enjoy!!!

The Clog is baaaack? Really?

Clogs may be the thing in Holland, but I’m not a fan of the wooden shoe and leather mule. I don’t think it’s that attractive and they don’t look comfortable. Spring 2011 is all about the 70’s and the clog is making an appearance. You’ll see different variations of it; super sky high clogs and low mini heeled clogs. Some may love this… But I’m not a fan, and I'm pretty much afraid of cracking an ankle.  I hope this trend is short lived and moves right on out of here, I’ll stick to my gladiators’ thank you very much!

Stylist's Favorites from TheHauteline

Favorite Look I’m wearing:          The Biker Look. I’m obsessed with biker boots, tight jeans and leather jackets at the moment. I love the look because it’s flattering and edgy, not to mention comfortable but doesn’t look like I just threw something on.  My favorite pair of biker boots are the Jimmy Choo of course, and I love the Rich & Skinny moto pants. For leather I love Kenna T and I’m loving this look because I am able to bring out my vintage Ducati leather jacket.
My Shoes:                           I’m a big fan of Louboutin and the red Sole. I feel my sexiest in these heels and my motto is the taller the better. There is just something about the peep toe, I can never have too many.  When I’m not rockin’ my sky-high heels, I really love Tory Burch flats – they are so comfortable and dress up the “jeans and tee shirt look.”
Favorite Designer:            Chanel. Simple, Feminine and Classic. I think Blake Lively as an ambassador as assigned by Karl Lagerfeld is a match made in heaven.
Why I love Fashion:         As a woman I think there is nothing better than being confident and feeling sexy, and that is what fashion does for me. I love anticipating the new trends, updating my wardrobe and collecting pieces that make me feel amazing. I love the art behind the garment and the passion that designers put into each piece. I associate my good times with the fashion I wear doing it.. "I remember that time when I wore.." thats what it's all about for me.

Style:                                     I think style is about not caring about what other people think and taking chances. Stepping outside of the box and wearing pieces that make a statement but don’t take away from your natural beauty. I love following the latest trends but wearing something Classic at the same time. I’m not big on being “matchy- matchy with color. ” I love mixing color, and I don’t see anything wrong with wearing hot pink pumps with a hunter or navy blouse… I say go for it.

Closet Revamp "The Plain White T"

ITEM REVAMP
THE PLAIN WHITE TEE
We all have a plain white tee shirt, and I am most comfortable with myself in my tee shirt, torn boot cuts and Converse All Stars, but the Plain white tee is a staple that can be worn with anything and always look good.
The Working Girl: Tired of wearing that button up collared shirt? Your white tee is perfect for the office. Pair it with a high-waist pencil skirt, pumps and some great long dangly necklaces and you’ve got an outfit for the office that will look just as great at cocktail hour.

Flirty: I love putting on a fuller skirt with a plain tee. This says “im simple yet girly” and is a look for less. Add a belt around the waist to sass it up a bit. This is great with some strappy flat sandals.

Cocktail Hour: I love the plain white tee with a fitted blazer, and a nice pair of skinny jeans.  The blazer takes a casual outfit and spices it up, toss in some chunky cocktail rings with some sparkle and you’re ready for a night with the girls.

Need a new tee? I’m loving Nation, Ltd. !!!

The Kitten Heel is making a comeback for 2011

The Kitten heel  is making a huge comeback for 2011. Made popular in the 1950’d and 1960’s but fashion is ever-changing and we all know what was in once, will be in yet again. This heel isn’t sky high and isn’t known for making the legs appear longer and it won’t add 4 inches to your silhouette, but it is girly, classic and let’s make the most of this trend. As spring and summer grow near, the kitten heel gives a chic alternative to the flat sandal.  This really is a heel for all seasons, but will evoke the femininity that a flat sandal may lack – don’t get us wrong, we LOVE our flats; but a sophisticated alternative is this year’s fashion trend. The working girl, glamour girl and fashionista will love this trend. Pair the kitten heel with your working wear, slacks and a vest or for a flirty look Pair the Kitten heel with a feminine Milly Dress.

Thursday trendwatch: I'm loving the wide leg trouser!!!!

Say Good Bye to the skinnies and welcome the wide leg trouser for 2011. With a 70's influence the wide leg pant is back. From denim to detailed prints and high wastelines the wide leg pant is a must have for 2011. You'll see the stores start to fill up with this trend and you can really do a lot with it. Great for the working girl with a blazer and peep toe pumps or for a flirty look with some cork wedges and a cami with some overstated accessory piece.  For some this is a trend that hasn't come and gone but a staple - and I'm happy to have it back.

Designer of the Week ~ Trina Turk

Trina Turk
Trina Turk considers herself lucky on two counts. First because she knew at a fairly young age what she wanted to do when she grew up – to design clothing professionally and second, because she is succeeding at doing it beyond her wildest dreams.

Born in California and raised there and in the state of Washington, her mother taught her to sew when Trina was 11 years old. She studied apparel design at the University of Washington and took her first job with the Seattle-based sportswear manufacturer, Britannia Jeans. Trina went to Los Angeles, where she waded into a sea of 30 prints per season designing surf wear for Ocean Pacific. Other jobs designing mostly juniors followed.

Realizing that her resume wasn’t likely to bring offers to design a line of contemporary clothing for women, Turk's next step was the launch of her own business. With her husband, then stylist, now photographer Jonathan Skow as partner, Trina Turk, the company, was born in 1995. In the same year her clothing was sold by Barney’s New York, Fred Segal, and Saks Fifth Avenue. With design and production headquartered minutes from Downtown Los Angeles in Alhambra California, Trina Turk’s wholesale sales topped $40 million in 2009.

Inspired by the multicultural mix, architecture, and landscape of Los Angeles and California, The Trina Turk Collection is full of the Season’s most casually sophisticated – and “must have” silhouettes. Trina’s philosophy is to create wearable, optimistic fashion that incorporates the best aspects of classic American sportswear. The collection has become known for an amazing pant fit and gorgeous signature prints. Swimwear was introduced in 2007 through a license with Apparel Ventures.

Trina has drawn constant inspiration from the cocktail party and poolside lifestyle of the desert, so it was fitting that the first Trina Turk boutique opened in March 2002 in Palm Springs, California in a modernist building designed by Albert Fey. The flagship store in Los Angeles is an airy ladylike pink-hued space. In December 2006, Trina Turk New York opened in the meatpacking district, bringing a splash of California color to the neighborhood. Trina Turk residential opened in May 2008 next door to the original boutique in Palm Springs. Boutiques at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California, Burlingame, California and Bal Harbour shops in Miami, Florida are the latest additions. A summertime only shop in East Hampton just finished it's second summer season.

Spring 2009 brought the launch of a hosiery “guest designer” line with Hue, and a printed fabric collection for the home with the venerable home furnishings manufacturer Schumacher, and Trina Turk residential products, including rugs, pillows and tabletop textiles.

BlakeLively : Ambassador for Chanel

 Good Morning Chanel Fans,

There's no better of an ambassador than the American Girl Blake Lively to represent the Mademoiselle Collection. So Exciting !!!!

“Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively, 23, has been tapped as the official ambassador for Chanel’s new Mademoiselle handbag line and will appear in a campaign photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. The ads are slated to break in April magazines.

“She’s a kind of American dream girl,” said Lagerfeld, lauding Lively’s spontaneous nature, freshness and what he described as natural star quality. “I think she will become a great actress.”

And Lagerfeld noted Lively is very aptly named. “She’s full of life,” the designer said.
